Chalchitra Academy has been engaged in bridging the gap between the urban and the rural arts, providing a unique platform of creative exchange. They have achieved significant success in reviving several traditional art forms of Bengal and moreover in rekindling an active interest; an aesthetic consciousness within the younger generation. Their workshops have opened up newer dialogues between the artists of different backgrounds. I have been enriched joining one such workshop. I wish them well for their upcoming ventures.

Chalchitra Academy has been relentlessly engaged in art activities for some years now. I have observed their workshops and outreach programmes, and they have been sincerely trying to bring the urban and the rural artists at the same platform. This initiative deserves applaud and in fact is an important way forward. I wish them all the best for promoting and disseminating the knowledge of traditional heritage of folk Bengal

Chalchitra Academy is well known due to their contributions to the  contemporary art world in West Bengal and India. They not only advocate to raise the awareness of India’s folk art tradition but also conjoin merging traditional folk art communities with contemporary art practices in a variety of applications.  Their most valuable initiative is supporting regional folk art oriented communities who are slowly disappearing. I conducted several workshops with Chalchitra Academy’s members and participating folk artists as an invited guest artist. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am wishing all the best for their endeavors.

Chalchitra Academy is a much esteemed Social Art Organisation founded by Mr. Mrinal Mandal. I had a good opportunity to work on a collaborative programme between Lalit Kala Akademi, Regional Centre, Kolkata and Chalchitra Academy at Khwaabgaon, Jhargram. Chalchitra Academy is trying to patronize and promote Tribal art forms in the global arena, showcasing their significant identity. Chalchitra is doing a noble job for the socio-cultural and economic development of tribal people. I wish them great and grand success.

Bipin Bihari Martha

Regional Secretary, Lalit Kala Akademi Regional Centre Kolkata

Chalchitra Academy has been constantly working to promote folk art forms and artists from different parts of West Bengal. They have been organizing several workshops and talks on these indigenous art forms. Chalchitra Academy  is presently busy in developing an art-village named Khwaabgaon. They have been successful in creating an open-air archive of different dying rural art forms. It is really commendable how they continue to work for the cause without any financial help from the Government. I wish the academy all the best in their quest to revive rural art forms
